About Whispers

It began with a whisper.
About Whispers

Whispers with God did not begin as a plan to build a platform.

It began much more quietly than that.

It grew out of prayer, reflection, lived experience, and the kinds of questions I have never been very good at leaving alone.

Questions about God and suffering.
About love and attachment.
About Scripture and truth.
About psychology, philosophy, literature, and the strange contradictions of being human.

Over time, those questions became conversations. The conversations became podcast episodes, essays, studies, devotionals, and eventually entire little rooms of their own.

But the heart of the work has remained remarkably simple:

to make room for honest thought in the presence of God.

I called it Whispers with God because I have come to believe that some of the most important things in life do not arrive loudly.

Sometimes clarity comes slowly.

Sometimes healing begins in silence.

Sometimes faith deepens not because every question has been answered, but because we have become willing to sit with the question long enough to listen.

And sometimes, beneath all the noise, God speaks very quietly.

a little about me.

I'm Ollinka—the voice behind Whispers with God.

I have always been interested in what is happening beneath the surface of things.

Why we love the way we do. Why we believe what we believe. Why certain stories stay with us. Why suffering changes some people and hardens others. How the mind makes sense of experience. How faith survives difficult questions. And what truth asks of us once we find it.

That curiosity has taken me through psychology, philosophy, religion, literature, theology, and more than a few rabbit holes I probably could have left alone.

I rarely do. 😂

My academic background includes studies in psychology, philosophy, and religion, but much of what shapes this work has also been learned outside a classroom—through reading, prayer, motherhood, suffering, healing, conversation, and the ordinary experience of trying to understand what it means to live faithfully and honestly.

I don't approach these subjects as someone who has everything figured out.

I approach them as someone who believes that faith does not require us to be afraid of difficult questions—and honest inquiry does not require us to leave God behind.

That conviction sits underneath nearly everything I create.

Sometimes it becomes a conversation about attachment and emotional healing. Sometimes it becomes an examination of Scripture or Catholic teaching. Sometimes we're reading a nineteenth-century novel and somehow end up talking about obsession, free will, suffering, and the human soul. 😂

Different questions. Different rooms.

Same search for what is true.

And through all of it, I hope to create the kind of space I am always looking for myself: one where intellect and tenderness can coexist, where faith can be taken seriously without becoming afraid of inquiry, and where the complexity of being human does not have to be simplified before we bring it to God.

Faith is not an accessory here.

It is foundational.

Whispers with God is deeply rooted in the Catholic faith—not simply because Catholicism is one of the subjects I sometimes talk about, but because it shapes the way I understand the human person, suffering, love, truth, beauty, reason, healing, and ultimately, what we are made for.

That does not mean every conversation here is explicitly theological.

Sometimes we are talking about Scripture. Sometimes about the saints, prayer, doctrine, or the history of Christianity.

Other times we are talking about psychology, relationships, literature, philosophy, culture, grief, desire, or the complicated business of becoming a human being.

But I don't believe those conversations have to be separated from faith in order to be taken seriously.

Quite the opposite.

Catholicism has given me an intellectual and spiritual tradition in which faith and reason are not enemies—and where searching honestly for what is true is not something to fear.

That matters deeply to the way I approach this work.

I don't want to use faith to avoid difficult questions.

I want to ask better ones.

I don't want Scripture reduced to slogans, theology reduced to arguments, psychology reduced to clichés, or suffering wrapped prematurely in a pretty spiritual explanation.

I want room for reverence and scrutiny.

For conviction and humility.

For reason and wonder.

And always, for charity.

You do not have to be Catholic to enter this space.

You may be Catholic, another kind of Christian, spiritually curious, uncertain what you believe, or simply interested in the questions being explored here.

You are welcome to listen, read, question, disagree, wonder, and think alongside me.

But I will never pretend that this work comes from nowhere.

It comes from faith.

And at the center of that faith is Christ.

Why This Exists

Because not everyone needs louder advice. Some of us need quiet truth.

Some of us need a place where intellect and tenderness can coexist. A place where psychology does not dismiss the soul. Where faith does not ask us to deny what it means to be human. Where difficult questions are not treated as threats. Where healing does not mean pretending something never hurt. And where returning to God does not require abandoning honest human reflection.

That is what I hope Whispers with God can be.

Not a place where every question arrives neatly answered. Not a place where complicated things are made simple just to make them easier to hold. But a place where we can slow down long enough to look honestly at what is true—about God, about ourselves, about one another, and about the stories we tell ourselves along the way.

A place for thoughtful conversation. For deeper listening. For prayer and study. For beauty and sorrow. For the questions that lead somewhere unexpected. And for the quiet work of becoming more honest, more discerning, more compassionate, and more attentive to God.

This space exists because I believe the interior life matters.

What we love matters. What we believe matters. What we allow to shape us matters. And the questions we are willing to ask matter, too.

The Work Takes Many Forms

Whispers with God began as a podcast, but it was never meant to remain confined to one medium.

Today, the work moves between spoken conversations and written essays, Scripture and literature, psychology and philosophy, theological inquiry and apologetics, daily devotionals and longer research projects. Some ideas become videos. Some become companion studies. Some are meant to be heard, others to be read slowly, and a few seem determined to become several things at once. 😂

The format is allowed to change because the format has never been the point.

What matters is the question being explored, the truth being sought, and the care with which the work is created.

Much of what I publish begins with research, prayer, reading, notes, and eventually a manuscript. From there, I let the work become what it needs to become rather than forcing every idea into the same shape.

That is why Whispers with God may look a little different depending on which room you enter.

But beneath all those forms is the same intention:

to create work worth lingering with.

Different mediums. Different questions. Different rooms.

The center remains the same.

Independently Created

Whispers with God is independently written, researched, recorded, produced, and published by me.

There is no large production team behind these pages, episodes, videos, devotionals, or research projects. Each one passes through my hands—from the first question and messy notes to the final manuscript and published work.

That independence gives me the freedom to let ideas take their time, follow questions where they lead, and publish something when I believe it is ready rather than simply because a schedule says it should be.
